Impact on Education

131The education of our players is a priority for us. We encourage them to stay in school by providing resources when possible, such as school supplies donated by supporters in the U.S.

85% of youth in Cameroon will NOT graduate from secondary school (equivalent to American high school). Barriers to this accomplishment include financial strains, access (the majority of young people living in rural areas of the country do not even have access to school after the primary level), parental support, and a number of additional social challenges youth face (pregnancy, drugs, alcohol).

To help understand our participants educational progress, CameroonFDP surveyed youth participants involved in our first year of operation, and found 92% have graduated or are still in school.

The greatest obstacle to completing secondary school is finances. We look forward to introducing scholarships in 2017 to support our youth in continuing their education.

Good Team Work

Our competitions always include an educational aspect , from questions from the referee to a group debate about a health or social topic.
